  • Happy Thanksgiving, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We have been lazy posters!  With so many holidays one would think we would be posting like crazy, but we've forgotten about the camera lately...perhaps a relief to some!  For Thanksgiving we had a visit from Nanna, Poppa and Ashley...so much fun to have "real" family around for such a great holiday.

    137_3772.JPG

We had the opportunity to visit Santa a couple of times.  Each time with the same result...Garrett sitting with him in order to get candy and Logan yanking on his beard.

Crayola Land at Crown Center...this is where Santa was in residence.  They decorated it really cute and the boys had a great time running around while "waiting" to visit Santa.

We had a magical visit from Buddy the Elf, who wet Garrett's present opening pallet the night before Christmas.

We had a great Christmas.  Definitely a little different without family around, but we enjoyed our time together as it seems to be increasingly difficult to find.

And just a big toothy grin

    137_3791.JPG

You may be asking yourself what is wrong with Garrett's smile...truth is, we don't know!  We've been trying to practice and end up with the same results each time!  Guess we're not funny enough to warrant a true smile.

Nothing too exciting has been going on around here.  Lynnsey leaves tomorrow for a trip to Utah while Stan is on rotation in the middle of Kansas for the month.  Should have plenty of new pics to post upon return!  Until then...

For those of you who did not receive a Christmas letter from us, I will post it below.  If you didn't receive one, yet would like to receive a Christmas letter in the future you need to send us a current address because we probably don't have your address.  Love you all

Well 2006 was a great year here in Kansas City, MO. We enjoyed beautiful weather the majority of the year; we were able to have a visit from the Asay’s and were also able to spend an amazing week in Florida with the Kimballs. Not much happened, but it was a good year. Oh yeah, Logan was born.

We welcomed Logan Rodney Kimball into our house on June 26, 2006 at 8:09 p.m. Logan is almost 6 months now and still does nothing! That is said with an exclamation because it is so nice to not have to worry about two movers around the house. I do lie when I said he does nothing because he does roll over from front to back. He smiles a lot and we have been told that he is a very happy child, most of the time we agree. He doesn’t demand attention, but is all coos and smiles when we give it to him. We think he is working on his two upper teeth right now, but that is yet to be seen. Logan has been a wonderful addition to our family and has made the transition from one child to two children quite painless.

Garrett is 2 years old and not quite as terrible as we imagined he’d be during the terrible twos! From what we hear he is quite the active child…we thought all boys were like him, but apparently we are wrong! Garrett is constantly moving and on the go. He loves to be outside, going to the zoo, singing, dancing and anything that moves! It is amazing to us that we have a child with intelligent thoughts and is able to express them pretty clearly. The hardest thing in the world for Garrett is having boundaries, restraints and limitations. He is trying to figure out that sometimes he needs to listen to mom and dad and that it’s not okay to run at will wherever we go.

Lynnsey is kept quite busy by both of these crazy boys. Grocery shopping with two children has become a skill and she is oftentimes able to make it there and back without any crying from the children! The house is a little messier these days, but our children are well loved, played with and definitely well fed! Lynnsey has realized that she really loves to cook, although it doesn’t seem to happen as often as she’d like. She also managed to find her way into coaching soccer again. She volunteered with a neighbor coaching a U-6 (under 6) team. She had a lot of fun and realized that children don’t necessarily get easier as they get older!

Stanley has been a busy fellow. In June he took his first step of boards and passed! Then in August he started rotations in the field. Each month he works with a different doctor in a different field. So far he has been able to be a surgeon (twice), an internist, a pediatrician and a family physician. His first months of rotations have been quite busy, but he is really enjoying the change from the classroom to the clinic. It’s crazy to be working in some small capacities as a doctor and definitely makes this whole path towards becoming a physician much more realistic.

Life is good! We know the Lord loves us and watches over us. We feel blessed to be here while Stan is working towards his career goals. Kansas City is beautiful! We have met some amazing people and think that the Midwest is truly wonderful. We hope this letter finds you healthy and happy. May the Lord watch over and bless you! Merry Belated Christmas and Happy New Year!

    Love,

Stan, Lynnsey, Garrett and Logan Kimball

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY GARRETT!!!

    Sept. 13, 2006

We had so much fun!  Stan had the morning off, so we started the day off with Mickey Mouse pancakes...Garrett thought it was pretty fun to eat his ears off.

    132_3288.JPG

We were going through Logan's hats the other day as we've had some cooler weather and Garrett found this one that "fits" (it was actually the hat he had from the hospital) and he wears it all the time.  We think its pretty funny.

    132_3287.JPG

     Here he is practicing two!

After breakfast it was off to presents.  Thanks to all who sent donations for the cause of making his day extra special.

    132_3292.JPG132_3296.JPG

Garrett is really big into trains right now, so we kind of had a "train" theme for his birthday.  Stan made train tracks running down our stairs to his new present...a train table and tracks!

Garrett loved his day and we loved it too...he spent the entire day, less 4 hours (his nap and eating his cake with friends) playing downstairs with his trains.

So, Garrett had an enjoyable birthday and it was just an awesome day.  We all enjoyed ourselves immensely!

We went with some friends to a botanical garden the other day and let the kids run wild.  Logan is doing better about sleeping on the go, so it was quite enjoyable.  Garrett ran, Logan slept and Stan and I actually got to talk to each other and play too!

Here's one for you mom....I don't think his legs have filled out too much...what do you think?

We are good!  Life is fun!  Stan is in Internal Medicine this month and is learning a lot from his docor.  Logan is sleeping through the night, yipee and Garrett wakes up at the crack of dawn (not so much fun).  We are looking forward to a much needed visit with the Kimballs come October and hopefully we'll be able to visit others sometime soon!  Love you all...if you ever want to make yourself in the neighborhood of KCMO we would love to have you!

  •  WE'RE BACK!!!

Well, we're back from visiting our family and think that we are settling down for a little while now.  Logan has been with our family for 6 weeks now and we are starting to figure out how to get things done with two kids running around (well...one running, the other is just there!).  We loved spending time with family and watching Garrett play with all of his cousins.

While in Utah I was able to see almost all of my old roommates at some point and time, we missed you Brenda!!!  Unfortunately, due to our hectic schedules we weren't all able to meet up at the same time, but we still had so much fun catching up and reintroducing them to our children...perhaps one day they will have children to introduce to us (hint, hint)! Just kidding friends.

    131_3141

While we were visiting at my mom's, Uncle Jerry and Aunt Laura came up to visit.  It was so good to see them and have our boys thoroughly spoiled by them, along with countless others.  Garrett loved playing with them.

When we visit Utah we have to split up the time between our families...so the first half of the week we were the Kimballs and the latter half we were with the Asay's.  We are so lucky to have so much family in one spot!  Here we are at the Kimballs.

While still here in Missouri, before our Utah trip the camera has been going non-stop.  Garrett and Logan provide us with many Kodak moments.  We have been fortunate that Garrett truely loves Logan and has enjoyed having him in our home (thus far).  He really likes to be by his brother...but not so much to hold him.

My mom was able to come out and help for two weeks after Logan was born.  Not only was she a tremendous help, but she was loads of fun.  We sure enjoyed the company and the fun that only grandparents can bring to a home.  We wish we could see all of our parents so much more often, but we do cherish every opportunity we get.

  • LOGAN RODNEY KIMBALL

    127_2766

On Monday, June 26 @ 8:09 p.m. our family welcomed Logan Rodney Kimball into this crazy world!  He surprised us all and came about 10 days early and 3 days before his scheduled induction.  I was cleaning the house when I started noticing contractions.  I had a doctor's appointment at 2:00 and was dilated to a 2 at 4:30 I checked into the hospital and was dilated to a 4.  Pushing began at 7:45 and Logan arrived at 8:09.  He tipped the scales at 8 lbs. 4 oz and was 21 1/2" long.  We are all recovering nicely and are working on adjusting to life as we know it.  Please help us welcome Logan and enjoy the picture entourage.

We all are adjusting well (we think).  Stan has had the week off and we have spent a lot of time getting aquainted and it has been a very enjoyable week.  We are grateful that Nanna could be out here helping us figure things out.  Things are going well, we are happy and are looking forward to getting to know each other better.  We love you all and are glad that you are a part of our lives.

  • THE FINAL FRONTIER

Stan has weekends off during this section so we have been doing our best to take advantage.  I guess you could call it our last hoorah's and also an increased attempt to make Garrett feel EXTRA loved before the baby comes along!  So, we spent this past weekend up in Omaha, NE.  Now I know you are thinking that Omaha isn't such an exciting place and you may be right, but we chose Omaha because it is the location of one of our church's temples so we spent part of Friday worshipping and then Saturday we went to the Omaha Children's Musuem.  It was very age appropriate for Garrett and he loved the hands on activities.   He was able to build with the blocks, shop at the grocery store, practice being the mailman, visit the farm, drive a tractor, dig for dinosaurs and much more!  He had a lot of fun and we enjoyed watching him experiment with all the different activities and trying a few ourselves.

So...it's kind of a funny story.  There were all of these dinosaurs and Garrett loved them.  Then there was this mechanical version w/out the skin that one can control.  So..Stan's videoing and I'm running the controls of the mechanical dino.  Here's what happens...

It is a video...I usually have to click on them twice to make them work correctly.  Don't give up on it if you don't get it the first time.  They do work, you just might have to click play more than once.

Don't worry, Garrett wasn't hurt, just a little scared!  He still loved the other dinos, but wanted nothing to do w/the mechanical screeching one!

What you are looking at here could very well be the last Kimball family picture as a three member family

Two weekends ago, we went camping at Harry S. Truman State Park.  It's a beautiful place with a big lake, unfortunately we had to cut our trip short (Garrett and I got sick) and weren't able to spend as much time exploring the area as we would have liked to, but we did get out a little during the day and a half we were there.

Helping the turtle cross the road safely...by the way, turtles are surprisingly fast little critters...I don't think it needed our help at the rate he was cruising along, but we being the kind helpers that we are, felt obliged to make sure it crossed safely, but not before we posed for some pictures with it.  Garrett loved watching him!

    Now the randoms!!!

  • Nothing But Life Going on Around Here

Life is being lived around our home...unfortunately the camera and this website can't capture all of the fun moments, but hopefully we've got some of the highlights here below.  We are currently enjoying a visit from Lynnsey's grandparents who have made our home their homebase while they are in the midwest visiting some family and historical sites in the area.  We are happy to have them here and Garrett sure loves them!  He wakes up each morning asking for them.  We look forward to having Nanna come visit when the baby is born (about 6 weeks) and are trying to plan a trip to Utah to see the family the end of July.  Hopefully all works as well as we think it should!

Grandma and Grandpa Happily reading to Garrett (he would read with them all day long if I'd let him)

We have had some scorching weather lately and Garrett has been outside with the neighbor kids enjoying it!  He is trying so hard to be a big boy...luckily we have some nice neighbor kids who accommodate and entertain him!

Well its official....Stan is done being a second year student...kind of....he still has to take the first step of boards (the medical licensing exam) on June 12 and then he starts preparing for rotations in August!  He has worked hard and has done well in school, we are proud of him.  Despite all the hard work, we've been able to fit in a little play time together.  Here is how he decided to finish up his second year...I guess you could say he went out with a bang!

    126_2623
The last day of school just happened to be Cinco de Mayo so Stan and some fellow classmates decided to celebrate Cinco de Mustache as well.  They all grew beards starting April 1 and then shaved some really ugly designs into their facial hair for May 5.  Stan was so proud of this and was complimented highly at school (I unfortunately wasn't as in love with it as all of his classmates and professors were and had him shave it as soon as he got home).

Later that night was the Father's and Son's Camp-out sponsored by our church stake.  Stan and Garrett unfortunately missed out due to some rotten weather and a sick child, so they decided to have a camp-out in the basement!

It took Garrett quite some time to fall asleep, but here he is sleeping away!

    EASTER

The day before Easter we had an egg hunt with our friends, so to be sure that Garrett would be able to perform we put him through a trial run here at home.  He loved looking for the eggs, at first he was really excited when he found one, but once he got the hang of it he would put the egg in his basket and immediately start asking for more.  Here's a short video of him in action.

Walking home with daddy.  I thought this was just a cute picture.

The Easter Bunny brought Garrett an Easter basket filled with goodies and left a candy trail behind that led to these doggies.  The mommy doggy and the puppy!  Garrett carried them around all day, they had to eat with him, sleep with him...luckily we were able to convince him to leave them at home while we went to church.

We've also taught Garrett some sign language.  It has been very beneficial in helping us to understand him before he enunciates very well.  Here's a little sample of what he knows and how it works.

  •  Fun Times Around the Kimball Household

Well the site hasn't been updated for a couple of months, but we've got a good reason...us Kimballs have been out having fun.  So sit back, enjoy the ride, and forgive us for posting so much...but we've been busy!  ENJOY

    Follies 2006
Each year the medical school has follies (aka prom) so, with the help of my good friend Kelley, I fancied up and Stan took me along to have a nice dinner and dance the night away.  It was a really fun night on the town with our friends!

Occassionally the firemen come into our complex to show off their toy!  Fortunately for us, we happenned to see them and we flagged them down.  Garrett along with a couple of other kids were able to explore and play on the truck.  The firemen were real great and let him climb all over...Garrett's dream come true.  He is very into trucks, tractors, planes and trains right now!  This was a special day for him. 123_2310

I, Lynnsey, kind of spur of the moment like decided to go to Utah for about 10 days.  So Stan, Garrett and I packed up the car and Garrett and I drove to Utah!  We were blessed with great driving weather and Garrett did awesome in the car for two days.  Then we just showed up on my parent's door step...they were very accomodating!  It was a fun surprise and a great time to be able to visit family...we wish that Stan could have come with us, but unfortunately for him he's the one who has obligations around here.  Garrett loves his aunts, uncles and cousins and it was a lot of fun for him to be able to hang out with all of them.

Jeff "dressing" Garrett up            Garrett loved roughhousing with Jeff           Tim and Tink were a lot of fun!

Jeff's in-laws had just aquired a baby calf that was days old.  Garrett and the baby calf were best friends!  The calf was scared around Jeff and I, but just look...he and Garrett were inseperable.  It was really cute.

The calf laid down and Garrett took it as his opportunity to "sleep" with the calf, so he sat down right next to her, started sucking his thumb and laid down right on top of her.  He also loves to play with everyone's ears..we thought it was just human ears, but he even went after the calf's.

We love our family so much and are glad that they dropped their activities to spend time with us.  We had so much fun visiting everyone and were really sad to go, but we had to get back because just 5 days later we were off to the happiest place on earth.

    DISNEYLAND!!!

     124_2479

Disneyland was awesome!!!  Garrett did so well and seemed to enjoy all of the rides.  He wasn't tall enough to ride the bigger rides, but it was okay because with me being pregnant I couldn't ride them either.  I think we timed the vacation right because Disneyland did not seem crowded at all (that could have been due to our Disneyland planner....a program called Ridemax (if you are going to Dland and want to avoid long lines and crowds this is the program for you.  The longest we had to stand in line for any ride...including the big ones for Stan was 20 minutes!)).  Whatever it was, it was great!
